Hursley Fireworks

I have taken fireworks photos every year for the last 3/4 years now, yet each year I forget to check what I did the year before to capture the light. This year I went full manual – ISO 100, aperture around 5 and bulb shutter with a release cable. Then I mostly guessed the exposure, watching fireworks spread in the sky until I though I had enough movement. Shutter times ranged from around two second, up to ten, all counted in my head.

The one thing I would strongly reccomend if you are trying to shoot fireworks, is to set the focus when the first firework goes off, then lock it to manual as you don’t want the camera trying to find focus instead of getting great images

The results weren’t bad:

Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks

Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks

Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks Hursley Fireworks

The only problem is it is too hard to choose between the photos.

Photos from Australia

I have finally put up some photos from my trip to Australia in October. I will get some from the wedding up later.

Old Photos

I have been closing down my old gallery, and uploading some of my old photos to Flickr

BBC Claims only 400-600 Linux users access BBC

“Ashley Highfield, BBC head of technology, claims that only 400 to 600 users are Linux users.” Tech.co.uk

If you use linux and access BBC online then sign this petition to give the BBC a sense of the real numbers of people using linux. Linux is treated second rate by the BBC, with linux users having to wait until Christmas to use the new BBC online content via iplayer.
