I don't agree with Andrew Ferrier about the lenses. Panasonic/Leica lenses are amoung the best you can get - his comment smacks of prejudice. This is new venture and trying to get away from the stuck-in-the-mud attitude many so-called experts perpetrate. The viewfinder is without doubt the best available - clear and bright. I have problems with my eyesight and this camera is a godsend to me - I was giving up photography but with this superb viewfinder I can carry on. Thank you Panasonic!

You have a good point - the Lumix name is very new. I was told by Panasonic that they have been making the components for Canon for a long time, so they say they know what they are doing. Some of their lenses are Leica too i believe.

There was a hint from Panasonic that in future models the viewfinder might disappear as you say, however I find the viewfinder is better for composing images as it blocks out the rest of the world and lets me see only the photo - I like that.

Sigma have lenses to fit the four thirds fitting, which there is an adapter for for this camera, so maybe we will see some good stuff from them

Interesting camera, thanks for the review. I find the fully-digital idea interesting, although I suspect Panasonic have missed a trick there by not removing the viewfinder. I'll bet that will come.

Sounds like it has some nice features. I'm not looking to change my camera at the moment, but if I were, I'd definitely consider it. The only thing that would put me off is the brand name; folks who understand this stuff say that Canon and Nikon have the edge optically. I'd like to see the optical results from a lab test of this camera.
